The Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble (MAYWE)
was formed with the goal of providing a unique musical outlet for Atlanta-area
student musicians. Founded by Peter
Witte of Kennesaw State University and Robert
Ambrose of Georgia State University MAYWE will give four concert performances
each year. Highlights for the inaugural season include collaborations
with guest soloists, composers, and local school band directors as well
as the release of a compilation recording of the season's highlights.
Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be held on Monday evenings from 7:00
p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Rehearsal venue to be announced. Rehearsals will begin in January,
2004.
Tuition

The membership fee for MAYWE is $100 per year and scholarships are available
for qualified students. Students must be current members of their own
school music program in order to participate.
Auditions

Auditions for the inaugural season will be held at Kennesaw State University
at the following time:
Saturday, December 13
Time: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

will be in Building #32, the Music Building. Public parking is available
adjacent to the Music Building.
For the audition, students should prepare
three to five minutes of music, including a technical fast excerpt and
a lyrical/slow excerpt. One or two major or chromatic scales may be asked,
and sightreading will be provided. Please note that in addition to the
standard instruments of the wind ensemble, there is also a need for harp
and piano.

You will be notified of your audition time by e-mail in late November
or early December.
